6 killed as bus overturns in Cumilla

At least six people were killed and eight others injured as a passenger bus turned turtle in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla on Sunday morning.

Police and witnesses said the accident took place on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Jagonnath Digi area of the upazila.

Five people died on the spot while another critically injured succumbed at the hospital, the police and witnesses say.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The injured were admitted to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex.

Chaddagram police station officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mahfuz said the passenger bus was heading to Maizbhandari Darbar Sharif in Chattogram from Khalispur of Khulna.

The accident took place after the passenger bus hit a truck from behind, he added.
