Student killed by ‘friend’

A student was killed allegedly by his 'friend' at a madrasha mess at Gazirdargah of Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore early Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Solaiman Hossain, 13, son of Jakir Hossain of Agrabhulot village in Shahrsha upazila and seventh grader of Gazirdargah Foyzabad senior madrasha.

Solaiman locked into an altercation with Sumon Hossain, son of Nurunnabi of Meghla village, on Sunday night, over a trifling matter, UNB quoted the police as saying.

At one stage, Sumon hit Solaiman with a stick, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to Jessore 250-bed hospital where he died around 12:30am, said madrasa teacher Fakhrul Alam.

Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha police station, said that they would take action after filing of a case.
