Eleven more victims of last month's Chawkbazar fire were identified through DNA tests on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said nine of them are male and two are females.

"The women are Nasrin Jahan and Fatema Johura," CID's additional DIG Rejaul Haider told reporters at its Malibagh office.

A deadly fire broke out at a chemical warehouse in Chawkbazar on 20 February. So far, 71 people have died.

"Sixty-seven bodies were recovered from the site but 19 of them could not be identified," he said. "A hand was found on 23 February."

Three were 48 claims for the bodies. But DNA samples of 23 persons matched with 11 victims.

"It will take 10-12 more days to identify the remaining victims," the CID officer added.

Haider said they sent the report to the investigation officer of the concerned police station.

"The officer will hand over the bodies with the court's permission," he added.
