Another body found in Buriganga boat capsize

The body of a minor boy, who went missing along with five of his family members after a boat capsize in the river Buriganga in Sadarghat, Dhaka on Thursday, was recovered on Saturday morning, raising the death toll from the incident to two, reports UNB.

The deceased is Mahi, 6, daughter of Shahjalal, from Shariatpur.

The members of Navy recovered the body from the river around 8:00am, said Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of river police.

Earlier on Thursday, six members of a family went missing when a boat sank near the Sadarghat Launch Terminal around 10:00pm as the launch, 'MV Suravi-7' hit it.

The Navy team recovered Shahjahal's sister Jamsida's body on Friday.

Four others--Shahjalal's wife Shahida, 28, their one daughter Meem, 8, and Jamshida's husband Delwar, 35, and their three-month-old sonJunayed-remained missing.

They were residing in Kamrangirchar area of the city and going to the launch terminal to go to their home in Shariatpur.

Shahjalal, 35, managed to swim ashore after the incident and got admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Dhaka as he lost his two legs during the accident.
