85 tonnes polythene seized in Dhaka

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday seized 85 metric tonnes of polythene and raw materials from 22 factories in Sowari Ghat area in the old quarter of the capital city, reports UNB.

The mobile court lead by executive magistrate Sarwar Alam of RAB headquarters conducted the anti-polythene drive from 11:00am to 7:00pm.

During the drive, the mobile court disconnected electricity connections of those factories on charges of producing banned polythene illegally and also fined Tk 2.6 million, said the executive magistrate.
