Man killed in Mohammadpur 'gunfight'

A man was killed in what police called a gunfight in Mohammadpur of the city on Sunday.  
Mohammadpur police claimed that the unidentified man was member of a gang of muggers.  
Another man named Hannan, 37, was injured in the gunfight, they said.  
Officer in charge (operations) of the police station Shariful Islam said that Hannan was arrested on Saturday night and police conducted a raid based on his information.
A car, a pistol, four machetes were recovered from the gunfight scene, the OC said.
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
The law enforcement’s version of the incident, however, could not be verified independently as no version of the incident was available immediately either from any witness or from the victim’s family.
