Students blocked Benapole-Jashore highway on Saturday morning demanding compensation for schoolgirl Nipa who lost her right leg in Thursday's road accident in Sharsha upazila of Jashore, reports UNB.

The school students put up barricade on the highway and set fire to abandoned tyres around 9:00am boycotting their classes.

Vehicular movement came to a halt following the road blockade.

The students chanted various slogans -- We want safe road, We want compensation for Nipa.

Nipa, a sixth grade student of Burujbagan Pilot Girl's School, lost her right leg and a seventh grader Smrity, was injured critically, as a pick-up van of Palli-Bidyut Samity hit a van carrying the schoolgirls on Thursday.
