Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal president held for ‘derogatory remarks’ on Liberation War

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a leader of Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal for making derogatory remarks about the Liberation War and spreading anti-state propaganda on social media, reports UNB.

Ashek Ahmed, 40, president of Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal, was arrested from Tejgaon area on Sunday night, confirmed commanding officer of RAB-3 Emranul Hasan at a press conference at the media centre in the city's Karwan Bazar on Monday.

He said the elite force found derogatory remarks about the country's Liberation War and some national leaders with pictures on his Facebook wall.

Ashek was a former student of Dhaka University (DU) Public Administration Department. He was the vice-president of Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal of Bangabandhu Hall Unit at the university.

He is also the vice-president of Sewachhasebak Dal of Natore unit.

Legal process against him is underway in this connection, the officer said.
