4 Rohingyas with Bangladesh passport detained at airport

Members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) detained four Rohingya people, including three women, at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport in the capital on Sunday while they were attempting to fly to Indonesia, reports UNB.

The arrested are Anwar, 30, Rokeya, 19, Marijan, 23, and Amena Begum, 26. All of them were carrying Bangladesh passports.

Sources at the airport said the detainees were scheduled to fly for Indonesia via Kualampur by a flight of Malaysian Airlines at 12:15pm.

The AAP members detained them from departure terminal around 11:00am, said Md Alamgir Hossain, additional SP (Ops and Media) of the AAP.

All of the detainees revealed they were inhabitants of Maungdaw in Rakhine state of Myanmar.

Legal actions have been taken against the arrestees, he added.
