3rd grader killed in school ceiling collapse

An eight-year-old student was killed and three of her classmates injured as a ceiling of their primary school partially collapsed on them in Barguna on Saturday.

The victim was Mansura, a third grade female student of PK Government Primary School in Chhoto Bogi union of Taltali upazila.

Chhoto Bogi union parisahd chairman Toufiquzzaman told Prothom Alo that the ceiling might have collapsed as construction materials used for the building were below par. 

"Like other days, the third graders were attending a class. All of a sudden, the ceiling fell on them, leaving four of them injured," said the chairman.
When Mansura was taken to a hospital, the on-duty physicians declared her dead, he added.
The injured were undergoing treatment at Amtoli Upazila Health Complex.
Taltali police station officer-in-charge, Pulok Chandra Haldar, said that police would take action if any charges are framed.
