The High Court on Tuesday ordered deployment of law enforcement members at big mango orchards in Rajshahi within seven days to prevent the use of chemicals, reports UNB.

The bench of justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and justice KM Kamrul Kader issued the order after hearing an appeal filed by lawyer Manzill Morshed.

Morshed said that the Rajshahi divisional commissioner and deputy inspector general of police of Rajshahi range had been asked to execute the order.

Besides, an inspection team has been ordered to monitor the fruit market and warehouses across the country so that no one can use chemicals to ripen mango.

The police chief, RAB chief, BSTI managing director and its director (chemical testing wing) have been asked to carry out the order and submit a report within 30 days.

Morshed said that the court issued a seven-point directive on 29 February 2012 about mango orchards.

"But last year we saw a tendency to use chemicals. So, we filed an application to have the directives issued again," he said.
