The authorities of Jahangirnagar University cancelled all its Pahela Baishakh programmes following the death of a student, reports UNB.

Nibrito, 20, a third year student of English department was admitted to the university's medical centre with complaints of abdominal pain and breathing problem around 7:00pm on Saturday.

As his condition deteriorated further, he was referred to Savar Enam Medical College and Hospital and died on the way to the hospital around 9:00pm.

University vice chancellor Farzana Islam said as they are shocked at the death of the student they have cancelled all the programmes.

Meanwhile, the university students besieged the medical centre on Sunday morning demanding more medical facilities at the centre.
