Eighth grader sexually abused in Faridpur

A schoolgirl was sexually abused in Faridpur while she was going to attend a Pahela Baishakh programme in Faridpur’s Nagarkanda upazila.
A 17-year-old of the upazila’s Kodalia Shahidnagar union has been arrested in this connection.
Nagarkanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Bodrudduza Shuvo said, the eighth grader was abused on Ishwardi Road while she was going to upazila sadar to attend a Pahela Baishakh programme.
Once informed, a mobile court found the youth responsible for the incident and asked Nagarkanda police station to file a case against him, the UNO added.
Officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda police station Mizanur Rahman said the father of the girl filed a case under The Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act against the youth, who has been sent to jail.
