11-yr-old madrasa student ‘raped’, principal among 2 held

Detectives in a drive arrested two people including the principal of a madrasa from Foyla area in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat on Friday night in a case filed on charge of rape of an 11-year student of the madrasa, reports UNB.

The arrested are Oliur Rahman, principal of Shorafpur Keramotia Fazil Madrasa and the alleged rapist Ferdous Sheikh, 19, a grocery shop owner in Shorafpur village.

Lutfar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rampal police station, said, “The madrasa’s second grader from Naogaon district used to live at the madrasa dormitory. Ferdous entered into the madrasa in the night of 11 April and raped the girl.”

Later in the day, the victim shared the incident with her classmates, but the madrasa principal and hostel super tried to cover up the incident.

Following the incident, the girl’s uncle filed a lawsuit against four people on Friday afternoon mentioning Ferdous as the prime accused.

Principal Oliur Rahman, his wife and the hostel super were also made accused as they tried to conceal the incident.

Police sent the girl to Bagerhat sadar hospital on Saturday for medical test.
