2 killed as gas line blasts in Narayanganj

Two garment workers were burned to death and eight others injured in an explosion believed to have been caused by a gas line leak in a house at Bhulta of Rupgani upazila of Narayanganj early Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased were Shamim, 30, from Meherpur district and Rakib, 33, from Jhalakathi district.

A group of garment workers numbering 10-12 used to live on the ground floor of a three-storey house owned by a 'Rabeya Akhter Mili' in the area.

The explosion took place around with a big bang 3:15am, leaving eight people injured, said inspector Rafiqul Alam, in-charge of Bhulta police station quoting the victims.

Rescued by the locals, the six critically injured victims were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the physicians declared the duo dead.

A wall of the house was blown away following the blast.
