PM Hasina consoles Zayan’s family

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday visited the residence of Awami League presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim in city’s Banani area to console the family members of Zayan Chowdhury who was killed in a deadly bomb attack in Colombo on Easter Sunday.

The prime minister went to the residence of Sheikh Selim, the maternal grandfather of 8-year-old Zayan Chowdhury at Banani around 2:45pm.

Sheikh Selim is a paternal cousin of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Sheikh Hasina stayed there for over an hour and consoled the family members of Zayan Chowdhury.

The prime minister also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of eight-year-old Zayan.

Sheikh Selim, MP, and his family members as well as other senior leaders of the Awami League were present there.

A second grader at an Uttara school, Zayan is a son of Moshiul Haque Chowdhury and Sheikh Sonia.

Moshiul also suffered splinter injuries in kidney and liver in the deadly terror attack in Sri Lanka’s capital on Easter Sunday.

Mohsinul and his wife went to Sri Lanka on holiday with two of their children. His wife and younger son were in their hotel room when the blast rocked the hotel.

The death toll from the attacks that tore apart several churches and hotels in Sri Lanka rose to 359, with another 500 injured.

The body of Zayan Chowdhury was brought to Dhaka from Colombo this afternoon.

A Sri Lankan Airlines flight carrying the body of Zayan Chowdhury landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:45pm today.
