A Dhaka court on Wednesday set 13 June to hold hearing on charge framing in two cases against Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, reports BSS.

The court changed the date after the defence pleaded to allow them time in the two cases.

Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor rescheduled the date accepting a time plea of Khaleda’s counsel.

Journalist Gazi Zahirul Islam on 30 August 2016 filed a case against the BNP chief on allegation of celebrating fake birthday on 15 August.

Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui filed another defamation case on 3 November 2016, against Khaleda Zia and her late husband Ziaur Rahman on charge of stigmatising Bangladesh’s liberation war by rehabilitating anti- liberation war elements.

The BNP chairperson is now in bail in these two cases as Dhaka metropolitan session judge Imrul Kayes allowed her pleas on 31 July 2018.
