Two female domestic helps died under mysterious circumstances in the city's Uttara area on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased are Ruby 20, from Lakshmipur, and Halima, 17, from Gazipur.

Officer-in-charge of Uttara West police station Tapan Chandra Saha said the victims used to work at the house of Mazedul Islam, a RMG businessman, on the 5th floor of a six-storey building at Uttara Sector-3.

Hearing the screams of a girl, security guards deployed by Uttara Sector-3 Society rushed to the rooftop of nearby one-storey building around 4:15am where they found the two girls lying, he said.

They were taken to nearby Crescent Hospital where physicians declared one of them dead while another died after some time, the OC said.

Analysing the CCTV footage of the employer's house, the OC said the two girls came out of the house with baggage around 3:32am and went up to the rooftop of the six-storey building. "It's not clear what happened later."

The hands and legs of a girl were found broken, he said, adding that they sent the bodies to hospital for autopsy. "We'll be able to know the reason behind the death once the autopsy report is available."
