7-yr-old girl 'killed after rape'

A minor girl was allegedly killed after rape by a young man at Patilakhali village in Sadar upazila of Bagerhat on Sunday, reports UNB.

The deceased was Faria Khatun, 7, daughter of Omar Ali and Class-I student of a local madrasa.

Pankaj Chandra Roy, superintendent of Bagerhat police, said locals caught Minhajul Islam Sohef, 19, son of Nurul Islam of Namajpur village in Sadar upazila, while he was trying to bury the body of the girl in an orchard at night.

Minhajul used to live at the house of the victim's uncle.

On information, police recovered the body around 8:30am and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

During primary interrogation, Sohel confessed to his guilt.
