2 Rohingyas killed in police 'gunfight’

Two Rohingya men were killed in what the law enforcers called a gunfight with police at Jadimura Camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased were Mohammad Alam, son of Bacha Miah of Noyapara Camp and Mohammad Rafiq, son of Ali Hossain, a resident of Jadumara Camp.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf model police station, said on information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area.

Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight that left the duo dead on the spot.

Two sub-inspectors Sabbir and Babul and police constable Main Uddin were also injured, police claimed.

Police also recovered two pistols, seven rounds of bullet and 2200 yaba tablets from the spot.
