Child dies as lychee gets stuck in throat

A child died on Monday afternoon as a lychee got stuck in its throat in Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari.

The child is three-year-old Eliza, daughter of a certain Ilias Sheikh of Char Faridpur village in the upazila.

Witnesses said the child was eating lychee on Monday afternoon. A lychee got stuck in her windpipe then.

Eliza was taken to Baliakandi upazila health complex. The child died before reaching the upazila health complex.

Baliakandi health complex resident medical officer Faruk Hossain said that the child died as a lychee got stuck in its windpipe.
