The Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ special flight that went to Myanmar to bring the injured passengers back home returned early Thursday without any of them.

As many as 18 passengers were injured after a Biman Bangladesh jet from Dhaka to Yangon skidded off the runway while landing at Yangon Airport in Myanmar on Wednesday evening due to inclement weather.

A total of 14 injured passengers were underging treatment at hospital while four others left the hospital after medication.

Biman general manager (public relations) Shakil Meraj confirmed this to Prothom Alo.

The Biman general manager said the injured could not be brought back due to formalities.

“The special flight has returned home with 17 passengers at 4:50am. They were waiting at Yangon airport. On the other hand, 14 of the passengers who sustained injuries in the accident are still taking treatment at hospital and four were released,” he said.

“There were a few foreign nationals among the passengers. But, the exact number will be informed later,” Shakil Meraj added.

There were 29 passengers including a child, two pilots and two cabin crews in the flight.

Later, a special flight of Biman left Dhaka at 11:25pm for Myanmar to bring the injured passengers home.
