A Bangladeshi young man was tortured to death allegedly by Border Security Force (BSF) of India along Satkhira border, the victim’s family claimed Saturday.

The deceased is Kabirul Islam, 32, son of a certain Aziz Molla of Chhoygharia village of Sadar upazila, reports UNB.

Aziz said his son went to India's Dudli area on Friday night and BSF members caught him while he was returning home with Indian goods.

“They tortured him and poured petrol in his mouth. They dumped Kabirul at the border when he fell ill,” he said.

Kabirul was taken to the sadar hospital around midnight where doctors pronounced him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of sadar police station Mostafizur Rahman said there were several injury marks on the body.

Lieutenant colonel Golam Mohiuddin Khandakar of Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion 33 said they have heard about the incident but are yet to get details.

“BSF has told us that they didn’t detain any Bangladeshi last night,” he said.
