Three people were killed in separate road accidents in the capital's Asad Gate, Pallabi and Demra areas on Sunday.

Two among the three victims were pedestrians while another one was a motorcyclist.

At Asad Gate, a speedy truck from Manik Miah Avenue hit a motorcycle around 11:30pm, witnesses said.

After the biker fell off the vehicle, the truck ran over him, they added. The identity of the victim could not be traced immediately.

The enraged mob seized and vandalised the truck following the incident and handed the driver over to the police.

Mohammadpur police station sub-inspector Md Faruk Hossain told Prothom Alo that the driver, Rana Mridha, 21, and the truck were taken into custody, and added that the body of the victim was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy.

In Pallabi, a man was hit and fatally injured by a car around 10:30am at Jhutpatti area of Mirpur-10, witnesses told the police, UNB reports.

The deceased was Amin, 30, son of late Abdul Khaleque of Bouniabadh under Pallabi police station in the city.

Being informed, sub-inspector Sohel Sikder with a team rushed to the spot and took the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 12:15pm, UNB quotes inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police camp as saying.

UNB reports another pedestrian was hit by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in front of Tamirul Millat Madrasa of Demra around 1:00pm.

The deceased Md Abu Hanif Master, 65, was a resident of Islambagh under Demra police station.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 5:00pm, UNB quoted victim's son, Ahmed Istiak, as saying.
