Two people were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Narayanganj's Alirtek early Monday, reports UNB.

The law enforcement identified both of them as robbers. They were Zillur, an alleged ringleader of gang ‘Zillur Bahini’ and his associate Jony.

A team of RAB-11 arrested Zillur two days ago, according to RAB.

After obtaining information from him, a team of RAB led by major Ashiq, deputy commanding officer, conducted a drive in the area around 3:40am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Zillur Bahini people opened fire on them, prompting the RAB men to retaliate, triggering the shootout, said RAB personnel.

After the gunfight, the RAB recovered the two bodies from the spot.

The elite force also recovered a foreign pistol, a bullet, a cartridge, and five-rounds of bullets of shotgun.

The law enforcement’s version of the event was, however, not verified independently as no version of the incident was available immediately either from any witnesses or from any members of the victim’s family.

Earlier on 5 March, three people were killed in two separate gunfights with law enforcers in Brahmanbaria and Barguna districts.
