Green City Housing project director withdrawn

Project director of the Green City Housing project of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Masudur Rahman has been withdrawn following the allegations of irregularities in procuring furniture and other household items for its officials and employees, reports UNB.

Masud, also executive engineer of Pabna office of Public Works Department (PWD), has been attached to the PWD, said its zonal superintending engineer Devashish Chandra Saha citing a letter of PWD chief engineer Shahadat Hossain.

On Sunday, the housing and public works ministry formed two committees to investigate the graft allegations.

It also directed for halting the bills of contractor firm until the probe reports are received.

On Monday, the High Court sought the reports of the two probe panels formed by the ministry.

Different media reports revealed the spending of excess money while procuring furniture, pillows and other items for Green City Housing project where officials and employees of Rooppur Power Plant will reside.

A pillow cost was shown at around Tk 6,000 while lifting a kettle to the building costs Tk 3,000.
