School teacher detained for ‘attempt to rape’ minor

Police on Monday arrested a school teacher allegedly for trying to rape a sixth grader in Bamia Sardarpara area of Koyra upazila in Khulna, reports UNB.

The detained is Bhaskar Mandal, 50, assistant teacher of Hogla Miloni High School and resident of Gazinagar village in the upazila.

Bhaskar took the girl to a garden in Bamia Sardarpara area and tried to rape her while she was visiting her grandfather's house there, locals said.

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing the child's scream and caught the teacher and informed the police.

Nimai Chandra Kundu, sub-inspector of Koyra police station said a case has been filed with the police station in this regard.
