BGMEA forms 25 committees to improve RMG sector

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has formed 25 committees to expedite its activities and ensure better coordination in key areas for the industry's smooth growth, reports UNB.

The committees will be headed by BGMEA president Rubana Huq, senior vice president Faisal Samad, vice president SM Mannan (Kochi), vice president Arshad Jamal (Dipu), vice president Moshiul Azam (Shajal) and vice president MA Rahim (Feroz).

The committees involving BGMEA directors will focus on a number of key areas including buyers' forum, market development; fire, structural and electrical safety; branding, industrial engineering and efficiency; innovation to industry, political, legal and cultural affairs and women empowerment, according to BGMEA.

The committees have also been formed to look into issues related to banking and insurance, customs, cash incentive, internal audit, foreign funds and investments, automation, building affairs and labour (arbitration, crisis management, law & order), trade fairs and environmental issues.
