Symbols allocated among 7 candidates of Bogura-6 by-polls

Seven candidates from various political parties, vying for the Bogura-6 constituency, received electoral symbols on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The by-election is scheduled for June 24.

BNP candidate Md Siraj got 'sheaf of paddy', Awami League' SMT Jaman Niketa got 'boat', Jatiya Party candidate Nurul Islam Omar got plow, Bangladesh Congress candidate Namsur Rahman got 'coconut', Bangladesh Muslim League candidate Mufti Mawlana Rafikul Islam got 'Hurricane', individual candidate Syed Kabir Ahmed got 'truck' and Md Minhaz got 'Apple'.

The candidates started electioneering right away to make use of the Eid-ul-fitr festival and reach as many people as possible.

BNP's secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had won the seat in the 30 December election but chose not to take oath of office. Subsequently, the parliamentary seat was declared vacant on 30 April.

The election commission announced the polls schedule on 8 May.

As many as 387,458 voters are expected to exercise their franchise at 141 stations of 11 unions in Sadar upazila. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is 3 June.
