Two children of a family drown

Two children of a family - an aunt and her niece - drowned in a pond in Namapara village of Sadar upazila on Friday.

The deceased were Azmina Begum, 10, daughter of Mojammel Haque of Namapara village; and her niece Amena Begum, 9, daughter of Abdul Mannan.

Officer-in-charge of Sherpur police station Abdullah Al Mamun said that Amena, who was visiting her aunt's house, went to take a bath with Azmina beside their house around noon.

Later, their families spotted their bodies floating in the pond.
