2 killed in road crashes

Two people were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in Satkhira and Laxmipur districts on Friday night and Saturday, reports UNB.

In Satkhira, a rickshaw van puller was killed when a pick-up van hit his vehicle at Ramchandrapur intersection in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Momrej Hossain,42, son of Sohor Ali of Kamdamdaha village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira district.
Imdadul Haq Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said the accident took place in the area around 8:00am when a fish-laden pick-up van hit a rickshaw van due to dense fog, leaving the van puller killed on the spot.
Police seized the pick-up van and arrested its helper but could not arrest the driver.
In Laxmipur, a man was killed and two others were injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw crashed into a motorcycle in BSCIC Industrial area in the town on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sagar, son of Nurul Islam of Lamchari village in sadar upazila.
Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said a CNG- run auto-rickshaw slammed into a motorcycle carrying three people towards the district town around 11:00pm, leaving Sagar killed and two others injured.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital.
