Prime minister Sheikh Hasina said there is money in banks, but no money for looting.

She made this comment in parliament on Monday while joining the discussion on the supplementary budget of 2018-19.

"We know who looted money from the banks. Many people have been charged for corruption," the prime minister said.

Referring to the criticism of proposed budget of 2019-20, she said, "How did the country achieve this progress if the budget was not given in a proper manner?"

Sheikh Hasina said the inflation is now under control as the government is cautious about implementing the budget.

"We are competing with countries of higher growth as we have attained capacity in the financial management," the prime minister said.

She observed It was not good to confuse the people. If the government had not worked properly, poverty would not have been reduced, she added.
