Aggrieved leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's (JCD) recently dissolved committee again staged a two-hour demonstration in front of BNP's Naya Paltan central office on Monday, demanding the withdrawal of age limit and expulsion order against their 12 leaders, reports UNB.

Over a hundred protesters of JCD took position in front of the BNP office around 11:30am and started their demonstration there. It was also meant for mounting pressure for changing the schedule for the council of the student body.

At one stage, they snapped the power connection to the BNP office and obstructed all from entering it till 1:30pm.

They also did not allow ex-JCD leader and BNP organising sectary Fazlul Haque Milon to go the office while beat a JCD leader as he tried to defy them.

Talking to reporters after their two-hour programme, ex-joint general secretary of the dissolved JCD committee Farroque Munna said they will continue their movement until their demands for the withdrawal of age limit, expulsion order against their 12 leaders and reschedule of the council 15-July council date are met.

He said they will also stage a similar protest programme on Tuesday in front of the BNP office. "We love Chhatra Dal, and we believe our leaders will resolve the problem through discussions with us."

While the some leaders of the demonstrating JCD group were going to Kakrail crossing from Naya Paltan, two-three crude bombs were thrown by miscreants from behind.

However, no one was injured in the blasts.

Earlier in the morning, a group of JCD leaders and activists brought out a procession at Nayapaltan welcoming the announcement for holding the student body's council on 15 July.
Later, they along with leaders and activists of BNP's different associate bodies took position inside the office to resist any untoward incident by the demonstrators.

Amid a row over the formation of its new committee maintaining a specific age limit, BNP on Sunday announced that the council of JCD will be held on 15 July.

The party is also supposed to publish a draft voters list for election to JCD's new president and general secretary.

On Saturday, BNP expelled a dozen demonstrating leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal hours after they announced to continue their movement until their demand for either formation of a new short-term committee or the removal of age limit is met.

JCD's last committee was formed on 14 October, 2014 with Rajib Ahsan as its president and Akramul Hasan as general secretary, and it was dissolved on 3 June last.

A BNP press release, signed by Rizvi on 3 June, said candidates planning to vie for various posts will have to be primary members, students of any educational institution in Bangladesh, and must have passed SSC and equivalent examinations either 2000 or later on, prompting a group of leaders staging demonstration seeking the withdrawal of age limit.
