Firoz Rashid’s daughter-in-law receives bullet injuries

The daughter-in-law of Jatiya Party MP Kazi Firoz Rashid was hospitalised on Sunday night after she received bullet wounds in, what police said, possible suicide bid, reports UNB.

Marina Shoyeb, 44, wife of Rashid's son Kazi Shoyeb, was taken to Labaid Hospital.

The incident took place at the house of Kazi Firoz Rashid in the city's Dhanmondi area.

Quoting family members, Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi police station, said Marina and Shoyeb got separated few months back but she along with her daughter was still living at her in-laws' house.

Receiving information that Marina was admitted to the hospital with bullet injuries, a team of police rushed to the hospital around 11pm, he said.

Police suspected that Marina shot herself with the firearm owned by Kazi Shoyeb in a bid to commit suicide, the OC said, adding that they were yet to know the exact cause. "The reason behind the incident can be known once Marina regains her senses."

Quoting family members, he also said Marina had been suffering from frustration.
