Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday asked the deputy commissioners (DCs) to remain alert to tackle flood, reports UNB.

"From now on, we've to remain alert all time for disaster management. We're very much aware about it," she said while inaugurating the five-day annual conference of DCs at Shapla Hall at the Prime Minister's Office.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh has achieved much skill in disaster management.

She mentioned that some parts of the country have already been flooded and the flood water will slowly come down to the mid areas of the country. "And at the end of August, the flood water will go to the low-lying areas," she said. She noted how the DCs took prompt steps whenever natural disasters struck.

"Government officials at the union and upazila level also took proper steps. This should be continued," she said.
