2 held over rape charges from Gazipur

Two people have been arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Gazipur for reportedly violating two teenage girls in Gazipur and Sirajganj districts, reports UNB.

RAB members arrested the prime accused in a case filed over the 'gang-rape' of a girl from Baroboika of the city on Sunday afternoon.

The arrestee Hridoy Hossain, 22, is son of Billal Hossain of the area.

Commanding officer of RAB-1 Porabari camp Abdullah Al-Mamun said the teenage girl of Nagpara in the city was 'gang-raped' by a group of 4-5 people on 3 July. The criminals also took the video footage of the rape incident and sent it to her family members.

Later, the victim's family filed a written complaint with the RAB-1 on 13 July.

Following the complaint, a RAB team conducted a drive at Baroboika and arrested Hridoy.

RAB members arrested Momin Hossain Munna, 22, son of Amirul Islam of Joypura village in Shahjadpur upazila of the district on Sunday, from Konabari in Gazipur district on Sunday for 'violating' a mentally challenged girl in Sirajganj.

Acting commanding officer of RAB-12 SM Morshed Hasan disclosed the arrest at a press briefing at his office in Hatikumrul on Monday.

On 7 June, Munna violated the girl when she went to the bank of the Jamuna river for bringing goats.

A case was filed in this connection.

Meanwhile in Jhalakati, a case was filed over the rape attempt on a schoolgirl at Baroiara in Sadar upazila.

Victim's father filed the case against Rajmoni Khan, 30, son of Moslem Ali Khan, on 7 July. However, the matter came to the fore on Monday.

On 3 July, Rajmoni went to the victim's house and tried to violate her when all the family members were asleep.
