A Barguna court on Monday placed Rifat Farazi on a seven-day remand for the third time in the Rifat Sharif murder case, reports UNB.

Senior judicial magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order when police produced him before the court on completion of his seven-day remand in the murder case.

Besides, another accused Kamrul Hasan Saimun has reportedly confessed to his involvement before the court to the killing. The same court recorded his confessional statement.

Md Humayun Kabir, inspector of Barguna sadar police station and the investigation officer of the case, said Saimun confessed that he helped prime accused Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond flee the scene with his motorcycle.

Rifat, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Aysha Siddika Minni in broad daylight in the district town on 26 June. The incident was caught on surveillance camera.

Police have so far arrested 13 people while Nayon Bond was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Sadar upazila last week.
