Another physician dies of dengue

Civil surgeon of Habiganj died at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital on Sunday night reportedly after being affected by dengue virus, reports UNB.

Confirming the death, Shah Alam, administrative officer of the Civil Surgeon Office, said physician Shahadat, 53, joined the office with fever on 20 July on completion of his leave and attended the District Development Advocacy Meeting on Sunday.

Shahadat from Pirojpur was admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital with high fever and then shifted to SBMCH on Sunday afternoon where he died.

He joined as civil surgeon after promotion from the post Jhalakati Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer on 9 July.

His family members live in Dhaka, Alam said.

Shahadat has a son, who is currently a 3rd-year medical student.

In the first week of July, a physician died of dengue in one of the large private hospitals of the city. He had first been undergoing treatment in the different private hospital of the capital.
