Satkhira AL leader shot dead

A local Awami League leader was shot dead by some miscreants in Satkhira on Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased was Nazrul Islam, 55, vice-president of Agardari union unit Awami League and son of Nesaruddin of Kuchpukur village in sadar upazila.

Quoting witnesses, Iltutmish, superintendent of Satkhira police, said a gang of miscreants appeared at Kashempur Hazampara riding a motorbike and fired gunshots targeting Nazrul while he was returning home from Kadamtala Bazar around 11:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.

The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.

However, Palash, son of the victim, said his father might have been killed following an enmity with former UP member Touhidul.
