Five girls of a family drown in boat capsize

Five children drowned as a boat capsized in Nikhai Beel (water body) at Sarishabari upazila on Jamalpur here on Thursday, UNB. .

The deceased are Subarna, 16 and her sister Jhuma, 10, daughters of Md Khabirul of Kalikapur village, and their cousins- Antara, 14, Jannatul, 8, and Atashi, 6.

Mahabbat Kabir, inspector (investigation) of Sarishabari police station, said a boat carrying 10 to 12 children of the area sank in Nikhai Beel in the morning.

All the children, except the five, managed to swim ashore.

On information, police recovered the bodies and handed over those to the families after autopsy, Mahabbat added.
