Detained madrasa principal Abu Hanif was shown arrested on Friday afternoon over the murder of madrasa boy Abir Hossain in Chuadanga, reports UNB.

Superintendent of police of the district Mahbubur Rahman claimed that Hanif first strangulated Abir to death to hush up sexual assault on the boy.

"Later, he slaughtered him to divert people's attention to a different direction."

He also said they continued to interrogate four other detained teachers over the murder.

After 24 hours into the recovery of the beheaded body of the madrasa boy, his severed head was found in a pond near the madrasa at Koyradanga village in Alamdanga upazila on Thursday.

On Wednesday morning, the decapitated body of Abir, 11, a Class-II student of Nurani Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage, was recovered from a mango orchard of the village.
