A student of finance department at Dhaka University died of dengue fever in city’s Square Hospital on Friday night, said his classmates quoting physicians.

Firoz Kabir Swadhin, resident at room no. 414 of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with fever a few days ago, they said.

He was shifted to Sqaure Hospital from DMCH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Thursday. Firoz died there around 9:00pm on Friday.

Firoz Kabir Swadhin was waiting for his Masters results.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall’s provost Md. Mofizur Rahman confirmed the death to Prothom Alo.

“We’re using mosquito killing insecticides for three-four times a week. Even today (Friday) I talked to students living in the hall to make them aware of dengue fever. We have been trying our best to exterminate the dengue germs. Amid all this an accident is really heartbreaking,” he said.
