Missing university teacher’s body recovered

The body of a private university teacher, who went missing during a river cruise at Kholbaria in Haltibeel in Noldanga upazila of Natore on Saturday, was recovered on Monday morning, reports UNB.

Local people found the body of Mokhlesur Rahman floating 10 kilometres off the spot in the morning and informed police.

Later, police and divers of fire service recovered the body.

On Saturday, some teachers and students of Business Studies department of Rajshahi North Bengal International University went to the Haltibeel for a river cruise, said officer-in-charge of Noldanga police station Shafiqur Rahman.

A student named Prapti Saha fell into the water body from a boat after being hit by strong current at Kholabaria. Teacher Mokhlesur Rahman jumped into the waterbody to rescue her but went missing, he said.

Later, the boatman managed to rescue the student but the teacher remained missing.
