Injured BGB man dies

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member, who was injured in a crude-bomb attack carried out by suspected drug smugglers along Panchbhulat border in Jashore district on 26 July died at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on Monday, reports UNB.

The victim, Habildar Akmal Hossain, hailing from Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur district, succumbed to his injuries around 9:25am while undergoing treatment at the Critical Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital, said Mohsin Reza, public relations officer of BGB headquarters.

On 26 July, Akmal was injured when a group of suspected drug smugglers hurled a crude bomb targeting a BGB team during an anti-drug drive along the Panchbhulat border.

A suspected drug peddler was also killed in the attack.
