Aedes larvae dense in 98 DSCC, DNCC wards

The density of Aedes mosquito larvae is higher in 98 out of a total of 129 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), said a Seasonal Aedes Survey, reports BSS.

The survey was conducted in 100 areas of the wards of two city corporations in Dhaka from 17 to 27 July, said a press release issued by the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) unit of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The survey report said the density of Aedes mosquito larvae was highest at 24 DSCC wards and 38 DNCC wards.

The release also said that clean water in containers such as old tires, thrown away bottles, pots, broken appliances, plastic containers etc. is the breeding ground of the Aedes mosquitoes.

This year, 17,183 people were admitted to government and private hospitals so far with dengue, said the report.

While another report issued by Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS said that 1,477 dengue patients were admitted to the hospitals in last 24 hours.

The report also said that 2,654 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital so far outside the capital.

As many as 362 people in Dhaka district, 106 people in Chattogram, 108 in Khulna, 31 in Rangpur, 61 in Rajshahi, 22 in Barishal, 29 in Sylhet and 80 people in Mymensingh were admitted to the hospitals with dengue.

The DGHS called for raising mass awareness to stop spreading of dengue.
