Amid the fear of outbreak, thirteen students of Dhaka University have been diagnosed with dengue fever on Wednesday.

As many as 168 students tested dengue fever after a dengue detecting device had been installed in Dhaka University Medical Centre on Wednesday, chief medical officer Sarwar Jahan told Prothom Alo.

The device can test 150 persons every day, he added.

The fear of dengue outbreak spread among the students after the death of a student named Firoz Kabir Swadhin on last Friday.

The students demanded closure of campus fearing the outbreak. Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) DU unit placed a memorandum to the vice chancellor demanding the campus be shut.

Vice president of Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur also expresses solidarity with the demand.
