Shipping ministry cancels Eid vacation of its staff

The Eid-ul-Azha vacation of the officials and employees of the shipping ministry and its three agencies has been cancelled considering the current flood situation, reports UNB.

Their leave cancellation is also meant for ensuring peaceful and comfortable journeys of homebound people through river routes.

The shipping ministry issued an office order in this regard on Thursday.

The three agencies of the shipping ministry are Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), and the shipping department.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on 12 August, subject to the moon sighting.
