Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader on Saturday urged the government to make a permanent list of those who get affected by flood every year to properly distribute relief materials among them, reports UNB.
"A permanent list of people who are affected by flood every year needs to be prepared and relief materials must be ensured for them as per their cards," he said.
The JaPa chairman came up with the demand while distributing relief among flood victims in Kurigram’s Panchgachhi Union College field.
He said many flood victims do not want to stand in line for relief amid their sufferings.
"So, if relief is provided as per the list, a permanent arrangement for proper distribution of relief among all the victims will be established."
GM Quader said they are standing beside the flood-hit people with their best ability as the main opposition party.
Stating that their party's late chairman HM Ershad was always there beside the flood victims, he said, "We'll continue to engage ourselves in serving the disaster-affected people following the path showed by him (Ershad).
He also said they will place in parliament if any irregularity is found in distribution of relief by the government.
Replying to a question by a journalist, Quader said a serious panic has spread among common people about dengue. "Many people are dying of dengue, but the government couldn't remove people's worry about dengue."
