BNP on Saturday alleged that Eid holidaymakers are going through immense sufferings on their way home due to the "mismanagement" of the government authorities, reports UNB.

"There're long tailbacks on the highways near the ferry terminals, including Dhaka-Aricha one. Trains are packed and their roofs are overcrowded as the government didn't take proper steps to ensure the smooth journey of home-goers," said party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He further said, "Trains schedules are collapsing while vehicles cannot ply smoothly for the poor condition of roads and mismanagement. People are suffering due to the government's mismanagement."

The BNP leader came up with the allegation while distributing leaflets of their party in the city's Gulshan area to create awareness among people about dengue.

He criticised the government for its failure to maintain train schedules as passengers have to wait for long hours at Kamalapur Railway Station. "Why people are being forced to wait 12 hours to catch their trains when the government always talks about development?"

Rizvi also came down hard on the government for its failure to control the dengue outbreak. "They're spraying ineffective insecticide to kill mosquitos. It's the medicine to keep mosquito asleep for a while. When the mosquitos wake up after five minutes, they again bite people."

He said people want to know who plundered crores of taka in the name of importing mosquito-killing insecticide from abroad.

The BNP leader said the government has kept their chairperson Khaleda Zia and many opposition leaders and activists in jail by obliterating justice and the rule of law.

He urged people to get ready for waging a movement to free Khaleda Zia from jail and restore democracy in the country.
