Wife ‘gang raped’, husband held captive

A housewife has reportedly been gang raped while her husband was held captive at a restaurant in Mymensingh Sadar upazila.

The victim and her husband boarded a bus in Bhaluka, Mymensingh on Friday night for Kalmakanda, Netrakona, officer-in-charge of Sadar model police station, M Tajul Islam, said.

She went to the washroom on their way at Sarinda Fast Food around 7:30pm where a youth named Jihan raped her there, according to the case filed by the husband.

Later, Samrat, Bashar, Russel, Pavel and Saidul raped her from 8:00pm to midnight after keeping her husband confined to a room of the restaurant.

They allegedly also had taken away their mobile phones and Tk 10,000 before releasing them around 1:00am on Saturday.

Police arrested four accused on Saturday over the incident after the victim filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station.

The arrested are Saidul Islam, 30, Rezaul Karim Pavel, 28, Jaman Bashar, 27, of Rajendrapur area, and Mahfuzur Rahman, manager of Sarinda Fast Food.
The OC said they sent the victim to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital for medical test. “We’ve arrested four people, including the hotel manager, following information provided by the woman,” he said.
